1. Work in Your Flow.
There are so many different marketing options available now that there is no excuse for not enjoying the marketing side of your business. Explore the options and then choose a style of marketing that is ‘in your flow’ i.e. you LOVE IT!
We feel completely in our flow when we are interviewing our podcast guests so preparing our podcasts is no chore, we absolutely love it!
Whether it’s podcasting, blogging, hosting webinars, creating video tutorials, facilitating a facebook group or designing beautiful visuals – or whichever of the many options out there – you can find a way to market yourself that you enjoy.
Pick the ONE thing you enjoy the most and focus all your efforts on it until you hit your initial marketing goals. This is the most time and energy effective way to work!!!
2. Fill Two (or More) Needs with One Deed.
Be super-smart about how you deliver your content. We did our research and discovered just how big podcasting is going to get in the future…but the same goes for video, instagram and the next big new thing too right?
So we’ve covered all our bases with a video podcast, meaning we’ve got video AND audio covered, plus our podcast interviews each generate more than enough fantastic quotes, imagery and content for us to share across all our social media platforms (and all our topics make for great content for our emails too).
So that’s it right there – we take the time to create one interview, but the content is great to use in lots of places.

3. Have Great Systems in Place.
Hey, we’re not perfect at this but we are starting to get there.
By the end of our launch we are going to have a kick-ass template and system in place in Asana (our project management tool) for each guest – right through from the pre-interview phase to post-production and the creation of all the social media materials for each episode.
Each task is assigned to the Get It Done Mum team member responsible – and most of the work is handed off to our wonderful assistants Nica and Trish as soon as the interview is completed (aside from ongoing quality control of course!)
So how can you step this up in your business?
It doesn’t have to be perfect and you don’t have to have a team to benefit from it – systems will save you time in the medium term, so it’s worth the short-term time investment now to get it started!
4. Invest in Expert Support if You Need It – It’s Worth It.
We had no clue how to start a podcast. In fact, Jo had never even listened to one before when J9 first suggested the idea!!!
We sensed at a strategy level that this could be a great direction for us, but we had no idea how to do it right. So we invested in help from experts (again) and we have to say, joining the community over at Podcaster’s Paradise was the best decision we made.
We invested well over $1000, but we have had so much more value back from this in terms of time-savings and results.
We know 100% that we are going to reach more Mums and get more subscribers to our podcast and ultimately more clients, as a result of what we have learnt in Paradise. It’s a no-brainer.
So, if you are confident a certain marketing strategy is in your flow but you don’t know where to start, find the money from where-ever you can and invest in help, it will be more than worth it!
